Introduction The reports contained in this booklet are the results of the research plot work conducted at Farm Focus. Most of these plots are designed and conducted in a manner that allows the results to be analyzed statistically. This requires each treatment to be replicated a minimum of three times, and to be assigned in random order to prevent any bias in the results. The results can then be reported statistically as a significant or insignificant difference. The reports “Marketing Wetlands for Profit” and “Herbicide Demonstrations” are not replicated trials, so the results are not statistically analyzed as to whether the differences between the treatments are significant. The information in this booklet is the result of the efforts and contributions of a lot of people and corporations, and it is our desire to recognize and “THANK” them for their support. v Cooperating Seed and Chemical Companies for donating seeds, herbicides, insecticides, fungicides, and fertilizers used in the plots. v Marsh Foundation for their support of farm ground, equipment, and personnel. Special thanks to Randy Patterson and Larry Shields for their help in planting and harvesting season. v Vantage Career Center for providing farm ground. v Ohio State University Agriculture Specialists- Dr. Ed Lentz, Nathan Watermeier, Dr. Phil Rzewnicki, Dr. Anne Dorrance, Dr. Harold Wilson, Bruce Eisley, Dr. Peter Thomison, Dave Jordan, Dr. Mark Loux, and Jeff Stachler for their assistance in planning and conducting the research. v Ohio State University Extension Adminstration- Dr. Keith Smith, Dr. Steve Baertsche, Richard Martin, Jerry Thomas, and Robert Fleming for their support of the Farm Focus program. v Van Wert County SWCD for their technical expertise and equipment. v Farm Focus Research Committee for their help in deciding and planning the research to be done. v OSU Extension Support Staff- Marilyn Reed and Deb Knapke, and Green Thumb enrollee Janet Schmidt for their help in preparing the booklet. We believe this booklet provides a valuable, unbiased source of information for farmers to use as a decision making tool in their operation. We also want to thank you, the farmer, for your continued support and interest in this program Questions or comments are always welcome.
