Farm Focus was started as a plowing match and then transformed into a two-day farm show held each year on an individual farm somewhere in Van Wert County, Ohio. During those 30 years visitors were treated to agricultural exhibits from many venders, educational speakers and machinery demonstrations, as well as popular wagon tours that still continue on Field Days. With the many changes in agriculture, the volunteer Farm Focus committee, which once had over 200 members, suggested that the show be discontinued and Farm Focus continue as a research and educational tool for area farmers, with Field Days to highlight new technology and the research plots and trials conducted on the 300 acres of The Marsh Foundation School Farms. With the inception of the permanent site on The Marsh Foundation School Farms, the research could become more viable as trials could be conducted under more controlled conditions. Today Farm Focus continues its research through clinical trials of crops, herbicides, irrigation and fertilization methods. Data is collected and analyzed each year to be published on this website and in hard copy form.
